Statement of DFA on the UN Joint Program on Human Rights

PASAY CITY 18 September 2020 – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) welcomes the ongoing discussions with the United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC) on the UN Joint Program on Human Rights.

The multi-year UN Joint Program is centered on technical cooperation and capacity building projects between Philippine government agencies and UN bodies, with the support of bilateral and multilateral partners, and other stakeholders. The UN Joint Program will support the Philippine Government’s efforts to continue strengthening its domestic mechanisms and processes on accountability and rule of law.

The UN Joint Program is a holistic approach on development and human rights that solidifies the Philippines’ close engagement and ongoing partnership with the UN, as the community of nations welcome the United Nations’ 75th anniversary.
