ILOILO CITY — The Iloilo Hospital Management Office (HMO) said hospitals in the province have enough supply of water, except for the Iloilo Provincial Hospital in Barangay Rumbang, Pototan.
In an interview Friday, lawyer Cynthia Cabangal, HMO officer-in-charge, said her office has not yet received any report of a water crisis in hospitals.
“There is no problem in terms of water supply in the hospitals. Except in our hospital in Pototan, which encounters a problem with water supply even without El Niño,” Cabangal said.
She added that the provincial hospital in Pototan often requests for water delivery. It sources its water from a water district, which she did not identify.
Iloilo province’s district hospitals source their water from deep wells, surface water, and water districts.
Other hospitals have enough water supply — the Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian; Barotac Viejo District Hospital in Barotac Viejo; Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Memorial District Hospital in Calinog; Don Valerio Palmares Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Passi City; Dr. Ricardo Y. Ladrido Memorial District Hospital in Lambunao; Ramon D. Duremdes District Hospital in Dumangas; Federico Roman Tirador Sr. Memorial District Hospital in Janiuay; Jesus M. Colmenares Memorial District Hospital in Balasan; Ramon Tabiana Memorial District Hospital in Cabatuan; and Rep. Pedro G. Trono Memorial District Hospital in Guimbal.
“The HMO works to fulfill the mandate in all aspects of hospital needs,” Cabangcal said.
Dr. Eduardo Fillaro Jr., Medical Officer III of the Department of Health 6 (Western Visayas), in previous interviews, said that water is important in hospitals. “It is needed for both minor and major operations,” he said.
Fillaro also saw no problem in terms of water supply in hospitals because “district hospitals do not conduct medical processes and huge operations, which require plenty of water.”
