Sunny morning, rainy afternoon on Tuesday

MANILA — Umbrellas might be indispensable on Tuesday, for both sun and rain, as the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasts clear, sunny skies in the morning and cloudy with rains in the afternoon.

In its 4-p.m. weather bulletin on Monday, which is effective for 24 hours, PAGASA said the high-pressure area (HPA) would affect Luzon and Visayas, while the easterlies would be felt in Mindanao. The HPA signifies warm weather, while the easterlies are warm winds coming from the Pacific that stir cloud formation.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to local thunderstorms.

PAGASA weather specialist Shelly Ignacio said the country would generally experience clear skies during the day, but with isolated rain showers in some areas brought by local thunderstorms.

Slight to moderate coastal waters are also expected over the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas, caused by light to moderate winds.

The Mindanao seaboards, meanwhile, will have slight to moderate coastal waters, pushed by light to moderate winds.

PAGASA, based on its weekly forecast, sees the temperature around the country on Tuesday ranging from 17-38°C, while Metro Manila will have a temperature range of 25-35°C.

On Monday, PAGASA recorded a peak temperature of 34.6°C and a minimum temperature of 24.8°C. (PNA)
