MANILA — Like President Rodrigo Duterte, his Cabinet as a whole has also received a ‘record-high’ net satisfaction rating, a latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey released on Monday (July 23) said.

The second quarter 2019 SWS survey, conducted from June 22-26, showed that the Cabinet’s net satisfaction rating rose from good to very good, up from the previous record of +44 in March 2019 to a new record-high +51 in June 2019.

SWS said the seven-point increase in the overall net satisfaction rating was due to increases in all areas: 12 points in Mindanao, 11 points in Metro Manila, five points in the Visayas, and four points in Balance Luzon.

The Cabinet’s net satisfaction rating rose from good to very good in Mindanao, up from +38 in March to +50 in June. It rose from moderate to good in Metro Manila, up from +25 in March to +36 in June; stayed very good in the Visayas, up from +50 in March to +55 in June; and, stayed very good in Balance Luzon, up from +51 in March to +55 in June.

The rating also rose from good to very good in rural areas as it jumped from +46 in March to +58 in June and stayed good in urban areas, up slightly from +42 in March to +43 in June.

Last July 8, the SWS released a survey showing Duterte’s net satisfaction rating soared to new record high of +68, surpassing the previous record of very good +66 in March 2019.

The SWS survey, which was also conducted on June 22-26, found that 80 percent of adult Filipinos are satisfied, 9 percent undecided, and 12 percent dissatisfied with the performance of Duterte, the country’s first leader from Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the survey released by SWS on July 23 showed that Vice President Leni Robredo’s net satisfaction rating fell from good to moderate, down by 14 points from +42 in March 2019 to +28 in June this year.

The 14-point decline in the overall net satisfaction rating of Robredo was due to decreases of 21 points in the Visayas, 18 points in Mindanao, and 13 points in Balance Luzon, combined with a steady net rating in Metro Manila, according to SWS.

The pollster also surveyed other branches of government with Senate President Vicente Sotto III keeping a very good net satisfaction rating although it slightly dropped from +61 to +60 due to decreases of eight points in Mindanao and five points in Balance of Luzon.

The Senate as a whole maintained a very good net satisfaction rating as it slightly increased from +62 to +63 percent.

Chief Justice Lucas Bersamin’s rating also stayed moderate, down slightly from +14 in March 2019 to +13 in June 2019 while the Supreme Court posted a record-high net satisfaction rating of +54 or a 4-point increase from March’s record.

Former House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s poor net satisfaction rating dropped further from -20 to -17, citing the seven points decrease in Balance of Luzon and four points in Metro Manila.

Despite Arroyo’s poor net satisfaction rating, the House of Representatives got a record-high ‘good’ rating at +48 from +47 in March 2019.

The SWS used face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adults nationwide.
