MANILA — Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle on Saturday acknowledged the participation of young Filipinos in the third ‘Walk for Life’ held at the Quezon Memorial Circle.

With this, he is hoping that the youth will cherish this experience.

“I’m happy because this year, we have so many participants from the youth. I think it’s because this is the year of the youth. To the youth, I hope your participation today is not just because the year is dedicated to you,” the cardinal said in his homily.

“Let this be part of your growing up year and memory. Sana maipasa nyo ito sa inyong mga anak, mga apo, na taun-taon hintayin ang Walk for Life (I hope you will this experience on to your children, grandchildren so they will look forward to the Walk for Life),” he added.

At the same time, Tagle urged the faithful to allow their families and communities to be their support for a better life.

“Let our families and other communities that play the role of families to commit themselves to be the nurturing spaces of life and especially the life of faith, life of decency, life of values,” he said.

He also urged them to dedicate their lives to nurturing the family and holding on to the faith.

“Faith is part of life. Knowing God and complying with His commandments. I hope that lives in the family, especially the youth,” the head of the Archdiocese of Manila added.

Catholic faithful, religious and Church officials attended the annual event, which is simultaneously celebrated in other parts of the country.

Other participants in Saturday’s event are the St. John the Evangelist Cathedral under the Archdiocese of Lingayen, Dagupan and Tarlac City Plazuela of the Diocese of Tarlac in Northern Luzon.

In the Visayas, the faithful have gathered at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral in Cebu and Palo Metropolitan Cathedral, Ormoc City and Palompon Leyte under the Archdiocese of Palo.

The Walk for Life activity in Mindanao was held at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, Cagayan De Oro City under the Archdiocese of Cagayan De Oro.

The event was organized by the Council of the Laity of the Philippines “in an act of solidarity” to uphold the dignity of life.
