Taguig City distributes stay-at-home food packs on 1st day of ECQ

On the first day of the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Metro Manila and four nearby provinces on Monday, the Taguig City government has already started distributing food packs to every Taguigeño family.

Members of the Barangay Affairs Office and the Mayor’s Action Team went house to house during the distributions which were held simultaneously in all 28 barangays of the city on Monday afternoon.

Even though all food establishments in the city will continue their dine-in and takeout services and all groceries and markets will remain open, Mayor Lino Cayetano said the stay-at-home family food packs will ensure that Taguigeños would not have to leave their homes to purchase supplies and potentially expose themselves to the dangers amid the pandemic.

“This week we need to stay safe. Dito po muna tayo sa piling ng mga mahal natin sa buhay, sa ating mga household, sa mga pamilya natin,” urged Mayor Lino Cayetano when he addressed Taguigeños a day before the implementation of the ECQ.

He also assured residents that the Taguig City government will take care of them during this time. “Sa aking mga kababayan, dito sa lungsod ng Taguig, we will take care of each other. Bayanihan po tayo. Ang lungsod natin ay kilala sa pagkalinga at pag-aaruga ng isa’t isa.”

“The city government will always be here for those who need it the most,” Mayor Lino added.

Taguig City’s stay-at-home food packs are good for three to four days for a family of five. These contain rice, canned goods, coffee, energy drink and a hygiene/anti-COVID kit with face masks, face shields, alcohol and soap to ensure recipients are protected from the COVID-19 virus.

“Itong one week na ito ay makakatulong sa atin para lalong mapababa ang ating mga kaso sa lungsod. The City of Taguig remains to have one of the lowest number of active cases in Metro Manila. At naniniwala ako, pag tayo’y nagtulungan, kaya rin natin babaan pa lalo,” highlighted Mayor Lino adding that this is one important aspect in the city’s #RoadToZero campaign. (Press Release)
