Taguig cop nabbed in drug bust

MANILA — A Taguig policeman was arrested in a joint buy-bust operation by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Wednesday night.

PO1 Jeffrey Amador, 29, was arrested at his rented apartment on 29-F, Providencia St., Barangay Central Cignal, Taguig City.

Seized from the suspect were five sachets of white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu” (crystal meth), a caliber .45 pistol and live bullets.

In a report to Camp Crame, Southern Police District head Chief Supt. Tomas C. Apolinario Jr. said the operation stemmed from a complaint from Amador’s wife, Michelle, 22, whom he reportedly mauled regularly.

The wife claimed that before Amador entered the service on Dec. 29, 2014, he was already doing drugs.

This prompted her to report to the NBI and to file a case against him at the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office on June 15, 2018 for physical and psychological abuse in relation to Republic Act (RA) No. 9262 (Violence Against Women and their Children).

Amador was relieved from his post on July 4, 2017 after being implicated in a case of kidnapping, usurpation of authority, violation of the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions and the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Charges for violation of RA 9165 (The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and RA 10591 (The Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunitions) will be filed against Amador. (Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
