Tagum wins 2 golds in arnis at Batang Pinoy Mindanao Games

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental — Tagum City captured two gold medals in arnis in the ongoing Batang Pinoy Mindanao Games held at the San Vicente Bajo covered court here.

Chelsea Faith Lumapang easily gave Tagum a gold after being the lone entry in the Anyo Event Individual (single weapon) for Girls 9-10 years old.

Nico Andrew Quias beat his own teammate, Gene Benares, in the Boys 9-10 Anyo Event Individual for Tagum’s second gold medal. Cotabato Province’s Roy dela Cruz Jr. settled for the bronze.

General Santos City earned one gold medal plus two silvers, followed by Davao del Norte with a 1-1-1 gold-silver-bronze medal count.

Gensan’s Wency May Magundag also outclassed her own teammate, Paulin Ordiz, in the finals of the Girls 11-12 yrs. Old Anyo Event (single weapon). Elaine Marianne Bayani of South Cotabato took the bronze.

Boys 9-10 Anyo Single Weapon – 1st – Christian Lagula (Davao del Norte), 2nd – Romel Aungon (Cotabato Province); 3rd – Reynard Vein dela Cruz (Cotabato Province)

Boys 13-15 Anyo Single Weapon – 1st – Eljan Yoan Sanchez (Zamboanga City), 2nd – Cyber John Lagula (Davao del Norte); 3rd – Harold Jacob Buzon (Davao del Norte)

In karatedo, Jeffrey Fronda of Iligan City and Kyle Leuraine Bangi of Davao del Norte pocketed the gold medals in the Novice Kata for Boys and Girls, respectively, at the Talaeron covered court.

Fronda outclassed Jiggler Gulay of Villanueva, Misamis Oriental in the finals of the Boys category. Alexander Blasé of Davao City and Kim Christian Gaudiel of Villanueva shared the bronze medals.

Bangi, on the other hand, topped the distaff side by crushing Danah Christine Calib-og of Calamba, Misamis Occidental in the finals.
