Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles led the online turnover of 3,615 housing units to beneficiaries in Ajuy, Iloilo last December 4, 2020 in coordination with Task Force Yolanda, the National Housing Authority and local government leaders under the Yolanda Permanent Housing Project for Region 6.

Nograles heads the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Unified Implementation and Monitoring of Rehabilitation and Recovery Projects and Programs in Yolanda-affected Areas.

“This is our biggest online turnover since August. We’re thankful to LGU officials and staff led by Mayor Jett Roxas for their full support and cooperation in ensuring this project is finished and the free houses delivered to their constituents,” Nograles said.

The 19th virtual turn over of housing units was made in the following areas: Malayuan People’s Village Site 1 (1,000 units), Malayuan People’s Village Site 2 (500 units), Adcadarao People’s Village (600 units), Pili People’s Village Site 1 (940 units) and Pili People’s Village Site 2 (575 units).

Nograles likewise expressed gratitude to the regional office of the NHA, saying “we’re very thankful to the leadership of General Manager Marcelino Jun Escalada, Regional Manager Engr. Antonio Del Rosario and District Manager Fe Jamoyot who all provided the direction which our local government leaders followed to complete this project, facing all sorts of construction challenges in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.”

According to the NHA, as of October 2020, out of the planned 123,535 housing units for Region 6, 89,491 have already been completed, with the remaining 22,869 units undergoing construction.

LGU officials led by Mayor Rojas, for their part, were profuse in their appreciation for the assistance of the Duterte administration.

“This gift of housing will never be forgotten by the people of Iloilo. We are grateful to President Rodrigo Duterte, Cab Sec Karlo Nograles and the NHA, especially the regional office for looking after the interest of the people of Ajuy,” Rojas expressed.

Nograles ended by stating that “despite the pandemic, we will finish all pending Yolanda-related constructions. That’s the clear directive of the President. The Duterte administration acts and provides concrete solutions to the problems facing the people of Region 6. We will continue our work until all the Yolanda housing commitments are concluded.”
