TD ‘Amang’ to bring rains, gusty winds over Eastern Visayas

MANILA — Tropical Depression (TD) “Amang” will bring rains over parts of the Visayas likely until Tuesday.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), “Amang” was last tracked 70 km north northeast of Borongan, Eastern Samar, moving northward at 10 kph.

The TD has a maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 60 kph.

Rains with gusty winds will be experienced over Masbate, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, Biliran and Leyte.

“Amang” will also bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Caraga, the rest of the Visayas and Bicol Region.

The northeast monsoon affecting Luzon will cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, Aurora and Quezon, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, strong winds will blow over Northern Luzon, the eastern part of Central and Southern Luzon, and the eastern section of Visayas. Coastal waters along these areas will be rough.

Moderate to strong winds will prevail over the western section of Mindanao and the rest of Luzon and the Visayas, where waters will be moderate to rough.

Elsewhere, winds will be moderate with moderate seas, PAGASA added.
