TD Karding maintains strength, remains stationary

MANILA—Tropical Depression Karding has maintained its strength and remained almost stationary over the Philippine Sea on Wednesday.

In its 4 a.m. forecast, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Karding” was last observed 1,150 kilometers east of Calayan, Cagayan with maximum winds of 55 kms. per hour and gustiness up to 65 kph.

“Karding” is not expected to make landfall.

PAGASA said the tropical depression and the low pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility may enhance the southwest monsoon affecting the country which would dump moderate to heavy rains over the western sections of northern and central Luzon on Friday, August 10.

Metro Manila, Ilocos region, Cordillera region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol region and western Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms caused by the southwest monsoon.

Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas will be partly cloudy with isolated rains or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

Cagayan Valley will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with scattered rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

The weather bureau has advised that sea travel remains risky over the western seaboard of northern and central Luzon.

The temperature in Metro Manila ranges from 24-31 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 24-34 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 16-23 degrees Celsius; Angeles City 24-31 degrees Celsius; Lipa City 24-31 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 26-32 degrees Celsius and Metro Davao 25-33 degrees Celsius. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
