TD ‘Usman’ deaths being validated now at 78

MANILA — The death toll in the onslaught of Tropical Depression Usman has climbed to 78, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), in its 6 p.m. update Tuesday.

It, however, clarified that the figure is still being validated by the NDRRMC Management of the Dead and the Missing Cluster.

In the same update forwarded to Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, the NDRRMC said that the fatalities are from Mimaropa, Bicol and Eastern Visayas.

Also, the number of missing has been placed at 21 and the injured at 15, also in Mimaropa, Bicol and Eastern Visayas.

Families affected by “Usman” are placed at 45,348, which is equivalent to 191,597 persons residing in 457 barangays in Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol and Eastern Visayas.

Of this figure, 6,637 families or around 24,884 persons are still being aided in 170 evacuation centers while 12,132 families or 54,665 individuals are being assisted outside.

“Usman” has also affected 95 road sections and three bridges in Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas, 57 of which and one bridge are now passable.

While damage to agriculture for Bicol alone has reached PHP242,129,035.72.
