MANILA — An official of the Royal Thai embassy in Manila has vowed to protect Filipino workers in Thailand as a testament to its decades-long friendship with the Philippines.

Thai Deputy Chief of Mission Urawadee Sriphiromya from the Royal Thai embassy in Manila made this remark recently during the National Day of the Kingdom of Thailand at The Peninsula Manila.

“The Royal Thai Government continues to be committed to the safety and well-being of Filipinos in the Kingdom,” Sriphiromya said during the event.

“Although the Thai community in the Philippines is comparatively small, we are also honored to be in this country and proud to be one of them,” she added.

Sriphiromya said she also expressed openness to engage in more business investments in the Philippines.

“The Philippines is also home to many prominent Thai companies, and we are open to more opportunities in expanding and investing more in this great country,” Sriphiromya said.

Also present during the event were different members of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, Philippine government officials, as well as guests from the private sector and the media.

The reception featured famous Thai delicacies and tourism activities that allowed guests to enjoy both the culture and delicious cuisine of Thailand.

Sriphiromya said Philippines and Thailand have been friends for almost seven decades since ties were established on June 14, 1949.

The diplomatic relationship between the two nations continues to be warm and friendly, assuring the security of the citizens in their respective countries, she added.
