ILOILO CITY — A company that is into cosmetics and food manufacturing based in Bangkok, Thailand has brought its corporate social responsibility (CSR) to the Philippines by providing free water purifiers to various schools in Iloilo.
Rowena Diaz, global marketing specialist of the AD Nano Company Ltd. in an interview on Wednesday, said the distribution of water purifiers is part of the firm’s “Water for Life” project.
The water purifier, which is a table top machine, produces alkaline water when attached to the faucet. The alkaline water neutralizes acid in the body, she said.
“Water for Life intends to educate people, especially public schools, about the importance of water for health and well-being,”
As of last week, the company has donated 10 water purifiers to the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Iloilo, Iloilo Central Elementary School and local government units of Oton and Miagao, who in turn will choose the school-beneficiaries. Each unit costs PHP25,000.
Diaz said schools with big population are being prioritized in the distribution.
In addition to the provision of free water purifier, the company, through its Zenfly team, conducts lecture on the benefits of alkaline water and proper hygiene and sanitation.
Diaz said there will be more purifiers to be distributed to public schools.
“The owner believes the more you share, the more merit the company gets,” Diaz said.
Prior to the “Water for Life project”, the company also funded the establishment of some PHP2.3 million Zenfly Garden project at the Iloilo City National High School way back in 2015.
It is a water catchment project that gathers rainwater that used to cause flooding inside the school campus. It was properly landscaped and converted into a garden.
The city government provided a counterpart by constructing a drainage that connects the catchment to the Iloilo River, where the water drains.
AD Nano Company Ltd. was founded in 2007 and is being managed by its chief executive officer, Pichait Palanugool. (Perla Lena/PNA)
