MANILA — TNT KaTropa drew first blood in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals by mauling the San Miguel Beermen, 109-96, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Sunday night.

The KaTropa quickly pulled away from the Beermen, opening a 35-19 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looking back, even stretching it to as high as 23 points.

Terrence Jones flirted anew with a triple-double, tallying 41 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists with three blocks and one steal for TNT, which can gun for a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven finals in Game 2 on Wednesday night back at “The Big Dome”.

Jayson Castro added 20 points, four rebounds, three assists, and one steal as the team’s unit combined for 101 of its 109 total markers.

Chris McCullough made 33 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and two steals for SMB, but he was accounted for half of the team’s 18 turnovers.

Junemar Fajardo came up with 23 points, five rebounds, and one assist.
