Top women leaders to highlight Women’s Month celebration in Cavite

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite –The provincial government will highlight women empowerment “at its best” through a bevy of women leaders as resource speakers during the celebration of Women’s Month at the provincial gymnasium here on Friday.

They include Carmona Mayor Dahlia Loyola, who will speak on local governance; celebrity and “prime time queen” Marian Gracia Rivera-Dantes on entertainment; and Nerissa Naig-Miranda on business and entrepreneurship.

Senator Joseph Victor “JV” G. Ejercito, chair of the Senate Committee on Economic Affairs and Urban Planning, Housing and Resettlement, will be the guest of honor and speaker.

Cavite Governor Jesus Crispin C. Remulla on Thursday said the event is in support to the nationwide observance of March as Women’s Month.

Remulla said the month-long activities and Friday’s major event form part of his advocacy to constantly initiate programs to push for women’s welfare and gender equality.

He underscored that women must be given equal priority for their capacity to perform at par with their men counterpart in diverse fields of interest.

The event also aims to encourage women to enhance their individuality and be recognized for their numerous socio-political and economic advancements.

Aside from the resource speakers’ empowering talks, the activity highlights include the symbolic cutting of hair by the Cavite organizers in partnership with “Cuts Against Cancer” and Multi-media Service Cooperative, as part of the provincial government’s donation drive for children and women with cancer.

Simultaneous activity on livelihood training, health services, free make-over and MSME Mini Trade Fair and Exhibit will be featured during the assembly.

During the livelihood training dubbed as “Kumita, Magnegosyo, at Umasenso,” participants will be trained on the basics of making water bonsai, jewelry accessories, balloon decoration, fabric conditioner, liquid soap-processing and candle-making.

Cavite’s women entrepreneurs will also showcase their locally produced products.

On health services, the province will provide free oral prophylaxis, self-breast examination, nutrition and assessment counseling, and family planning counseling and commodities.

Free make-over will also be provided for the beauty and wellness activity, which include free manicure-pedicure, haircut and massage.

Cavite Vice Governor Ramon “ Jolo” Revilla III, 7th District Board Member and Co-Chairperson of Cavite GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) Reinalyn Varias and representatives of other women’s organizations are expected to join the events. (Gladys Pino/PNA)
