Transport sectors all set for GCQ

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) assured that the transport sector is ready to resume operations once President Duterte decides to reimplement general community quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila.

There are plans to add more authorized bus units in the National Capital Region (NCR). There are currently 3,662 with special permits while some are still undergoing evaluation. The number of buses outside EDSA, together with passenger routes, and the implementation of barriers in EDSA for bus lanes will also be increased.

“Come August 19 po may makikita na tayo riyan na left side bus doors po natin ide-deploy po (Come August 19, we will be seeing left side bus doors that will be deployed),” DOTr ASec. Steve Pastor said.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) earlier said that 968 traditional jeepneys will be added once NCR is reverted to GCQ.
