Trike driver nabbed in Koronadal drug bust

GENERAL SANTOS CITY–Police arrested a tricycle driver who was reportedly doubling as drug pusher in a buy-bust operation in Koronadal City on Wednesday aftenoon.

Supt. Benjiel Kirby Bajo, Koronadal City police chief, identified the suspect as Danny Barber Agudo, alias “Cobra,” 39, a resident of corner Zulueta and Abad Santos streets in Barangay Zone IV-Poblacion.

Bajo said the suspect was accosted at around 4 p.m. at the vicinity of Purok Kahirup in Barangay Sto. Nino after selling a sachet of suspected metamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu worth P500 to a police officer, who posed as a buyer.

In subsequent search, he said they recovered from Agudo’s possession two more medium-sized plastic sachets containing suspected shabu worth around P2,000 and the P500 marked bill used in the entrapment.

Bajo said the suspect, who is included on the city police’s drug watchlist, was subjected to a series of surveillance operations prior to the buy-bust on Wednesday.

“We’re currently looking into his networks and possible links to other drug personalities,” Bajo said.

The Koronadal City police has submitted the recovered pieces of evidence from the suspect to the regional crime laboratory for examination.

The susppect, who is currently detained at the Koronadal City police station lockup, will be charged with violation of Sections 5 and 11 or selling and possession of dangerous drugs, under Article II of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.(Alejandro Saludo/PNA)
