Tropical depression spotted off eastern Visayas

MANILA—The southwest monsoon or “habagat” would bring rain in some parts of the country while a tropical depression was spotted off eastern Visayas but still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In its 24-hour weather forecast Wednesday, the state weather bureau said the tropical depression was last observed at 2,300 kilometers east of the Visayas with maximum winds of 55 km/hr, gustiness of up to 65 km/hr and is moving northwest at 10 km/hr.

Pagasa said that should the typhoon enter PAR by Sunday or Monday next week, it will be named “Gardo”.

Palawan, Mindoro, and western Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

Metro Manila and the rest of country will have cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.

Temperature in Metro Manila will range from 26-32 degrees Celsius; Tuguegarao City 24-35 degrees Celsius; Baguio City 16-24 degrees Celsius; Metro Cebu 25-33 degrees Celsius and Metro Davao 24-33 degrees Celsius. (Lily Ramos/PNA)
