Tropical Storm ‘Jolina’ intensifies over Philippine Sea

Tropical Storm “Jolina” may bring rains over parts of Visayas and Mindanao today (Sept. 6). 

As of 4:00 p.m. today, the center of Tropical Storm “Jolina” was estimated at 95 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration’s (PAGASA) 5:00 p.m. bulletin.

Tropical cyclone wind signals (TCWS) were raised on the following areas:

  • Eastern portion of northern Samar (Palapag, Mapanas, Gamay, Lapinig, Laoang, Catubig, Las Navas, Pambujan)
  • Northeastern portion of Samar (Matuguinao)

“Jolina intensified into a tropical storm at 2:00 PM today. The tropical storm is forecast to slightly intensify as it moves over the Philippine Sea and may reach its peak intensity of 85 km/h by Wednesday (Sept. 8),” the weather bureau said. – Report from PTV News / CF -rir
