Trough of LPA to bring scattered rains over Visayas, Mindanao

MANILA—The trough of the low pressure area (LPA) spotted off Guiuan, Eastern Samar will bring rains over Visayas and Mindanao on Friday, as the southwest monsoon continues to affect northern Luzon.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its 4 a.m. forecast that the LPA was last observed at 415 kilometers east of Guiuan town.

Visayas and Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of LPA.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms.

The weather bureau is also monitoring a typhoon with international name “Jebi” which was spotted 2,500 kilometers east of northern Luzon outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility with maximum winds of 180 kms. per hour, gustiness of up to 220 kph and moving west at 20 kph.
