Trough of ‘Lannie’ to bring rains over parts of Luzon

MANILA – Tropical Depression (TD) Lannie is about to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) but its trough is forecast to bring rains over parts of Luzon, the weather bureau said Wednesday, (Oct. 6).

In its 5:00 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said “Lannie” was last tracked 670 km. west of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will be experienced over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa.

Floods and landslides are possible during moderate to at times heavy rains, according to PAGASA.

The rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms.

No tropical cyclone wind signal is currently in effect. However, the enhanced easterlies will cause occasional gusts, reaching near gale to at times gale force wind over extreme northern Luzon.

The enhanced southwesterly will bring the same conditions over the coastal and upland areas along the western section of central and southern Luzon.

Gale warning is currently in effect over the seaboards of northern Luzon and the western seaboards of Southern Luzon.

Moderate to rough seas will prevail over the remaining western seaboard of Luzon and the eastern seaboard of the country.

PAGASA advised mariners to take precautionary measures, as these sea conditions are risky, especially for those using small seacraft. (PNA) – bny
