Trough of LPA, shear line, ‘amihan’ to bring clouds, rains

By Raymond Carl Dela Cruz | Philippine News Agency

MANILA – Cloudy skies and some rains will prevail in parts of the country on Saturday (Jan. 22) due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA), “amihan” or northeast monsoon, and the shear line.

In its 4:00 a.m. daily weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecast cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Caraga and Eastern Visayas regions brought by the trough of the LPA.

It also forecasts cloudy skies with light rains over the Cagayan Valley and Cordillera regions, as well as Aurora and Quezon provinces brought by the “amihan” and the shear line.

Metro Manila, the Ilocos region, and the rest of Central Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains to be triggered by “amihan”.

The rest of the country will get partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms brought by localized thunderstorms.

Moderate to strong winds, headed northeast, will prevail in the whole country, with moderate to rough coastal waters in the northern and eastern sections of Central Luzon.

The rest of the country will have moderate to rough coastal waters.

The temperature in Metro Manila will range from 21°C to 30°C; Baguio City, 13°C to 23°C; Legazpi City, 23°C to 28°C; Metro Cebu, 23°C to 31°C; and Metro Davao, 24°C to 33°C. (PNA) – bny
