TS Ramil to traverse Central Luzon, Signal No. 2 up in most of Luzon

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) announced Ramil’s continuing track as it hovers over Manila Bay in its 11:00 a.m. bulletin.

Tropical Storm Ramil packs maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph as it moves west-northwestward at 15 kph.

Due to Ramil’s expansive cloud cover, PAGASA placed most of Luzon under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2:

  • Southeastern portion of Quirino (Nagtipunan, Maddela, Aglipay)
  • Central and southern portions of Nueva Vizcaya (Alfonso Castañeda, Dupax del Sur, Dupax del Norte, Bambang, Aritao, Kayapa, Santa Fe, Kasibu)
  • Central and southern portions of Benguet (Itogon, Bokod, Atok, Kapangan, Tublay, La Trinidad, Baguio City, Tuba, Sablan)
  • Central and southern portions of La Union (Rosario, Pugo, Tubao, Santo Tomas, Agoo, Aringay, Caba, Naguilian, Burgos, Bagulin, Bauang, City of San Fernando, San Juan, San Gabriel, Bacnotan, Santol, Balaoan, Luna)
  • Pangasinan
  • Aurora
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Bulacan
  • Tarlac
  • Pampanga
  • Zambales

A gale warning prevails over the eastern and western seaboards of Luzon, making travel risky on all types of sea vessels in the following areas:

• Up to 4.5 m: The seaboards of Isabela, Aurora, Camarines Norte, and Polillo Islands; the western seaboards of Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Batangas; the northwestern seaboard of Occidental Mindoro including Lubang Island

• Up to 3.5 m: The seaboards of Metro Manila; the northern seaboards of Camarines Sur; the northern and eastern seaboards of Catanduanes; the northern seaboards of mainland Quezon; the eastern seaboard of mainland Cagayan

• Up to 3.0 m:  The seaboards of Batanes; the remaining seaboards of mainland Cagayan and Babuyan Islands; the seaboards of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur; the eastern seaboards of Albay and Sorsogon

• Up to 2.5 m: The seaboard of La Union; the remaining seaboards of Pangasinan and Quezon.

• Up to 2.0 m:  The seaboard of Marinduque; the remaining seaboards of Bicol Region; the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Samar.

The state weather bureau meanwhile noted the west northwestward or northwestward movement of Tropical Storm Ramil as it traverses the Central Luzon landmass before emerging over the coastal waters of Zambales or Pangasinan on Sunday afternoon.

Ramil is moreover expected to intensify once it reaches the West Philippine Sea, possibly reaching a severe tropical strom category as it exits the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning.
