Tuguegarao under ECQ starting tomorrow

Tuguegarao City will be under a 10-day enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from Thursday (Aug. 12) until Aug. 21 due to the increasing number of newly reported cases.

Department of Health (DOH) data show that the city has an average daily attack rate (ADAR) of 31.80, the highest in the entire Cagayan Valley region.

The City Information Office said nine deaths were recorded in one day.

Tuguegarao’s active case toll was at 724 on Aug. 10 after 122 new cases were added in a single day.

The local government said vaccination will push through despite the stricter quarantine classification.

ECQ rules

The city government’s Executive Order No. 98 prohibits mass gatherings and the consumption and sale of alcoholic beverages, especially in public places.

The curfew hours will last from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Restaurant operations are also limited to takeout and delivery, while wet markets and satellite markets will be open daily.

All public transportation operations are suspended, and only essential travel is allowed. The government said the use of a Covid Shield Control Pass will be observed, while essential workers may just present their IDs or certification.

Motorcycle back-riding is also permitted, subject to the presentation of a barangay certification stating that the driver and the passenger live in the same household.

Religious activities are limited to virtual masses, except for burial masses. – Report from Oliver Baccay/PIA Cagayan/AG- jlo
