Obstacle course racers Julius Rodelas and Kaizen Dela Serna carved their names in the Guinness World Records after ruling the 100-meter open event of the Philippine OCR at Arcovia City in Pasig last Sunday, April 10.
Rodelas clocked in 27.12 seconds in the men’s elite division to obliterate two Polish obstacle course racers Przemyslav Janczuk and Jakub Zawitoski who registered 28.11 and 30.87 seconds, respectively.
The 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games bronze medalist got the Guinness at the 12-obstacle course event after surpassing the 29.2 seconds record of his SEA Games double-medalist teammate Kevin Pascua during the 2019 biennial meet.
“This is a dream, I can hardly believe it because this is the first time I have won a gold of any kind in my sports career, and a Guinness world record at that. Tunay na nakakatuwa talaga,” Rodelas said in an interview with PTV Sports.
Meanwhile, Dela Serna clocked in 39.42 seconds in the women’s elite division, almost 10 seconds faster than the previous record holder Rochelle Suarez at the 2019 SEA Games .
“I am absolutely honored and amazed by this achievement because I have been training hard for this event for the past months. I could have not done this without the support of my teammates and the support of Atty. Al,” Dela Serna said. – Report from Khay Asuncion (PTV Sports)/ML-ag
