UAAP bans ex-UST Coach

The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) imposed an indefinite ban on former University of Santo Tomas (UST) coach Aldin Ayo for conducting a training bubble in Sorsogon amidst the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Board of Managing Directors recommended the indefinite ban and was approved by the UAAP Board of Trustees (BOT). In its statement, the UAAP BOT cited, “the ban is based on the UST report that showed Ayo endangering the health and well-being of the student-athletes under his charge when he conducted the training during a government-declared state of public emergency intended to arrest the Covid-19 outbreak.”

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) allowed just this Monday the training of college student athletes in accordance with the practice protocols set by the technical working group.
