UAAP Cheerdance Competition officially returns this weekend

After a long lull due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the UAAP Cheerdance Competition will officially return on Sunday, May 22, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

However, there will be slight changes to the routines of participating schools.

Compared to the usual five minutes given to each school, the routines have been trimmed to a maximum of three minutes. There will also be no live drums for this competition.

The Ateneo Blue Babble Battalion, DLSU Animo Squad, UP Pep Squad, National U Pep Squad, UE Pep Squad, Adamson Pep Squad, FEU Cheering Squad, and the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe are set to compete for school pride and glory through jaw-dropping stunts and creative dance routines.

For those who are unable to watch the competition live, Smart Communications Inc., the official digital partner of the UAAP will give fans a treat to watch the much-anticipated return of the UAAP Cheerdance Competition via the GigaPlay App for free with no subscription fees and data charges.

The special GigaPlay streaming promo is part of Smart’s thrust to enable the youth to pursue their passion for sports, cultivate their school spirit, and root for their favorite teams and players.

Moreover, fans can also stream for free the remaining elimination games for the UAAP Women’s Volleyball Tournament, which are scheduled on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays following the quadruple-header format. – bny
