UAAP: Fighting Maroons, Bulldogs triumph

The University of the Philippines escaped with a 61-59 win over the DLSU Green Archers on Thursday (April 7) in the UAAP Season 84 men’s basketball tournament held at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Zavier Lucero dropped a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Fighting Maroons and got help from Joel Cagulangan who finished with 7 assists, 5 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.

In the second game, the NU Bulldogs used a second-half run to rout the UST Growling Tigers, 82-51.

Meanwhile, the elimination round will conclude on Saturday (Apr. 9) with NU battling the University of the East at 10:00 am.

The Green Archers will go up against Adamson in the second match at 1:00 p.m. This will be followed by the 1:00 p.m. encounter pitting the Ateneo Blue Eagles against the UST Growling Tigers.

The UP Fighting Maroons will face the FEU Tamaraws in the final match of that day at 7:00 p.m.

For students who are still unable to watch the games live, the UAAP games can be watched live via the GigaPlay app.
