The United Arab Emirates (UAE) expressed its interest to strengthen bilateral relations with the Philippines in a courtesy call to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. at Malacañang on Thursday.

Marcos welcomed the UAE delegation, led by Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Experience Exchange Abdulla Nasser Lootah, who is in the country for the Philippines and UAE Government Experience Exchange Forum.

Deputy Minister Lootah was accompanied by UAE Ambassador to the Philippines, Mohamed Obaid Salem Alqataam Alzaabi, and other UAE officials.

During the courtesy call, Marcos thanked the UAE government for ensuring the welfare of Filipino workers in the Gulf state and for making the Philippines a partner in various mutually beneficial undertakings.

“We are grateful to the UAE for its continued support to our Filipino workers and for being a true partner in building smarter, future-ready governments,” the President said in a Facebook post.

“Through shared knowledge and collaboration, we are creating meaningful change for our people,” he added.

The Philippines and UAE Government Experience Exchange Forum, held on Sept. 16 to 18, organized by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) and the UAE Ministry of Cabinet Affairs, aims to promote innovative and future-ready governments through the exchange of experiences and best practices.
