MANILA — Weather disturbance “Usman” weakened into a low-pressure area (LPA) after making landfall in the vicinity of Borongan, Eastern Samar, the weather bureau said Saturday morning.
All tropical cyclone warning signals have been lifted, added the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The center of the LPA was last located in the area of Llorente, Eastern Samar.
The regions of Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Bicol; and Aurora province will experience moderate to heavy rains, while Metro Manila and the rest of central Luzon and the Visayas will have light to moderate with at times heavy rains.
PAGASA warned residents of these areas, especially those living near river channels and in low-lying and mountainous areas, to take appropriate measures against possible flooding and landslides.
Isolated rain showers will prevail over most parts of Mindanao due to localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, fisherfolk and those with small sea craft are advised not to venture out over the seaboards of northern and central Luzon, the eastern and western seaboards of southern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of the Visayas due to surge of the northeast monsoon affecting northern and central Luzon, PAGASA said.
