The meeting scheduled on Thursday between NLEX Corporation and the local government of Valenzuela will no longer push through.
The cancellation came after Valenzuela Mayor Rex Gatchalian received information that the corporation may seek a temporary restraining order against the suspension order imposed on the business permit of NLEX.
“Ang konteksto ng pag-uusap namin kaninang umaga was simple (the context of our talk this morning was simple). The local government of Valenzuela doesn’t do well under grave threats or any types of threat whatsoever,” Gatchalian stated.
“Sabi ko ‘pag hindi kayo good faith na makipag-usap, na nananakot kayo, hindi rin kami makikipag-usap. So they were saying na mali ang konteksto, then I leave it to them to explain to the media, not to me (If they are not in good faith to talk and they are threatening, we will also not talk to them. Caloocan and Quezon City have expressed support on the move of Valenzuela to act on the concerns of motorists within their jurisdiction.
“I fully support cashless transactions, especially as this is part of the new normal. But if implementation is flawed, then the purpose of this technology, which is to promote convenience and speed up the flow of vehicular traffic, will not be achieved. In the case of Mindanao Avenue, traffic has in fact worsened,” QC Mayor Joy Belmonte expressed.
Caloocan Mayor Oca Malapitan who had a discussion with NLEX this morning said the situation of Valenzuela and Caloocan are really different.
“Ang Valenzuela ho dalawang lane lang ang pasukan nila. Talagang nauunawaan ko si Mayor Rex. Talagang perwisyong todo-todo sa Valenzuela roon sa General Ruiz. Umaabot pa nga po ng Caloocan ‘yan (There are two lanes as entry points in Valenzuela. I understand Mayor Rex. General Ruiz really is a serious burden to Valenzuela.
