Veteran actor ‘Bangkay’ dies

MANILA — Veteran character actor Nonong de Andres, who was popularly known as “Bangkay” in horror and comedy films, has taken his final bow Tuesday. He was 71.

De Andres’ nephew, Powee Capino, broke the news on social media on Tuesday afternoon.

“Please pray for the eternal repose of the soul of my Tito Nonong who passed away early this morning,” he said in a Facebook post.

De Andres also played as “Bangky” in ABS-CBN’s drama series “Forevermore” in 2014.

“This is aside from the hundreds of movies and television appearances he was in throughout his acting career,” Capino added. (PNA)
