Veteran actor John Regala passes away

Veteran actor John Regala passed away Saturday morning, June 3, due to liver and kidney complications.

Regala’s wife, Victoria Scherrer, confirmed his passing in an interview with ABS-CBN News.

According to Scherrer, the actor had been under critical care for three weeks at the New Era General Hospital in Quezon City.

Regala, 58, gained notoriety in the entertainment industry as a member of the 1980’s TV show “That’s Entertainment.”

He was tagged as the “bad boy” of Philippine action films along with fellow action stars Robin Padilla and the late Ace Vergel.

The actor was best known for his portrayals in “Alyas Baby Face,” “Primitivo Ebok Ala: Kalaban Mortal ni Baby Ama,” “The Vizconde Massacre: God, Help Us!,” and “Batas ko ay Bala.”

Regala also won “Best Supporting Actor” at the Metro Manila Film Festival for the movie “Manila Kingpin: The Asiong Salonga Story” in 2011. – cf
