Vietnamese firms visiting PH this week

MANILA — Fifteen Vietnamese companies are visiting the Philippines this week to explore business opportunities.

The business delegation will be led by Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam (MOIT) Deputy Director General for Department of Asia-Africa Markets Do Quoc Hung.

The Vietnamese firms are in the sectors of rice exports and trade of agricultural products such as coffee, tea, cashew nut, pepper, confectioneries, vinegar, jalapenos, corns, aquatic products, among others.

Among the visiting companies here include Hanoi Trade Corporation, Tan Long Group Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Northern Food Corp., Dong Thap Branch of Food Processing and Exporting, Duong Vu Co. Ltd., Bibica Corp., GOC Food Processing Export JSC, Xuan Khang Enterprise, Nghi Son Aquatic Product Exim Co. Ltd., Phuoc Thuan Import and Export Agricultural Co. Ltd., Thanh Tuan Trading and Services Ltd., Phuoc Thuan Co. Ltd., Hoang Thinh Imex Co. Ltd., Tan Thanh An Co. Ltd., and Vacod One Member Co.

A business forum between Filipino and Vietnamese companies will also be held on Tuesday in Manila and will be hosted by MOIT and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
The delegation will be in the country until Wednesday.

Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority showed that two-way trade between the Philippines and Vietnam in January to September this year stood at USD2.5 billion.

Philippine exports to Vietnam in the said period grew by 20 percent to USD639 million this year from USD531 million last year, while imports from Vietnam rose 27 percent to USD1.9 billion in 2017 from USD1.5 billion in 2016. (PNA)
