Village chief on drug watchlist nabbed in Laguna

MANILA — A barangay chairman in Famy, Laguna has been arrested for possession of illegal drugs.

In a report to Camp Crame Wednesday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Region 4-A (Calabarzon) office reported the arrest of Alfredo T. Manuel, chairman of Barangay Damayan, Famy, Laguna on Tuesday.

Personnel of the Famy police led by Chief Insp. Marlon Cabatana served a search warrant which resulted in Manuel’s arrest.

The village chief had been listed as number one in the station’s drug watchlist.

Seized during the search were four pieces of heat sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and one piece of chewing gum metal tin box. (Benjamin Pulta/PNA)
