#WalangPasok: Class suspension on May 27 due to ‘Mawar’

Classes in the following areas have been suspended on Saturday, May 27, due to anticipated inclement weather brought on by super typhoon “Mawar.”

Metro Manila

  • Marikina – All levels (public and private)

Cagayan Valley (Region 2)

  • Sta. Ana, Cagayan – All levels (public and private, as well as work in government offices)

Central Visayas (Region 7)

In its 3:00 p.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said super typhoon Mawar was spotted at 1,725 kilometers (km) east of Central Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 215 km per hour (km/h) near the center and gustiness of up to 265 km/h. It is moving west-northwestward at 25 km/h.

PAGASA also said Mawar still does not have a direct effect in the country but is forecast to enter the Philippine area of responsibility tonight or Saturday early morning.

Mawar is expected to weaken by Monday due “to unfavorable conditions.”
