‘Wall of Heroes’, itatayo bilang pagbibigay pugay sa mga nasawing healthcare workers

Sa pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kalayaan, parehong binigyang pugay ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang mga sinauna at makabagong bayani ng bansang Pilipinas.

Nakiisa ang Pangulo sa pagdiriwang ng Araw ng Kalayaan nitong Sabado (Hunyo 12) sa Malolos, Bulacan kung saan iginawad nito kina Marcelo Del Pilar at Gen. Gregorio Del Pilar ang Order of Lapu-Lapu, isang pagkilala sa natatanging kontribusyon at kabayanihan ng ilang indibidwal sa bansa.

Sa kanyang talumpati, nagpaabot ng pakikiisa si Pangulong Duterte sa pagdiriwang ng sambayanang Pilipino sa mahalagang okasyon na ito at nagpasalamat din siya sa mga ninuno na nakipaglaban upang matamasa ang kalayaan ng bansa.

Kinilala rin niya ang mga bagong bayani sa panahon ng pandemya katulad ng mga doktor at nars, law enforcement officers, at iba pang mga manggagawang Pilipino.

“As we commemorate Independence Day, let us honor our modern-day heroes — our healthcare workers, law enforcement officers, and other frontliners who have been instrumental in our fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Marami pong salamat sa inyong pagmalasakit at serbisyo,” saad ni Duterte.

Kaugnay nito, inanunsyo ng Pangulo ng bagong proyekto ng pamahalaan sa pakikipagtulungan ng Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“Mayroon na tayong wall of heroes at pumayag naman na ang, thank you for your consent, pumayag na ang Armed Forces na magtayo tayo ng wall of heroes dyan sa Libingan ng mga Bayani,” aniya.

“Lahat ng mga namatay, yung mga doktor, nurses, at mga nahawa ng COVID-19, will be honored by their name inscribed in that wall. It is now being built,” ayon sa Pangulo. – Ulat ni Mela Lesmoras / CF-rir
