Wanted NPA finance officer nabbed in Bulacan

MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan – A female finance officer of the New People’s Army (NPA) was arrested in Barangay Patubig, Marilao town on Sunday (Sept. 19) afternoon.

In a report on Monday (Sept. 20), Lt. Col. Julius Alvaro, chief of police of the City of San Jose Del Monte, identified the suspect as Ma. Lorena Sigua, 44, presently residing in Residence de Muzon Subdivision, Barangay Muzon of the said city.

Alvaro said she was arrested by combined elements from the City of San Jose Del Monte Police, Regional Intelligence Unit 3, Bulacan Police Provincial Office personnel, 24th Special Action Company, and other government forces by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Judge Lou A. Nueva of Regional Trial Court Branch 7, Bayugan City in Agusan del Sur.

The NPA official is facing a murder charge under criminal case No. 5965.

“The suspect is also a regional top most wanted person of PRO-13 (Police Regional Office-Caraga),” Alvaro said.

Sigua belongs to the NPA’s Regional Operations Command North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (ROC-NEMRC) under Edelberto Reponte Dabal alias Bong Wako/Bel.

She is also linked with members of the Guerilla Front 21 of NEMRC, who were tagged as the primary suspects in the killing of Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit Active Auxiliary Bebot Bayong Sag-ob and Private First Class Jerald Dela Cruz Giron in Sitio Virtudazo, Barangay San Juan, Bayugan City on Apr. 22, 2018.

The arrested suspect is now detained at the City of San Jose Del Monte Custodial Facility for proper documentation.

The NPA is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the Philippines. (PNA)
