Wawa Dam in Montalban, Rizal is temporarily closed from tourists following the recent encounters between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and suspected rebels.

This after members of the AFP figured in a firefight in Barangay San Rafael in Rodriguez, Rizal on March 31.

The local government said this is due to recent encounters between the government forces and some alleged communist terrorists in Sitio Ligtas, Brgy. San Rafael where one soldier was wounded.

Meanwhile, pursuit operations are ongoing in some parts of Wawa Dam’s mountains, Brgy. Puray, Brgy. Mascap, and Brgy. Macabud.

“The said areas, including Sitio Wawa, San Rafel, are now closed from tourists visits, until further notice,” the local government announced. – cf
