Wearing of face shield in public transportation defended amid criticism

Malacañang emphasized on Friday the importance of wearing face shields to prevent further transmission of COVID-19.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque’s statement is in response to Senator Imee Marcos’ comment that buying face shields is just an added burden to ordinary citizens who could use the money for buying food instead.

Hindi pa naman po ito requirement na isuot all the time kahit saan (This has been required and made mandatory for public transportation and not for all occasions),” Sec. Roque explained.

The basis of the DOTr is science. It has been proven that wearing face shield aside from face mask in public transportation could help reduce the transmission of COVID-19),” he added.
