MANILA – Two weather systems will bring scattered rain showers over parts of the country, the weather bureau said on Monday.

In its 4:00 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region and Western Visayas due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).

Cagayan Valley region and Aurora province will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms caused by the northeasterly surface windflow.

Chris Perez, PAGASA weather forecaster said the rest of Luzon would experience isolated rains, especially between afternoon and evening.

“The rest of the Visayas, and Mindanao will have warm and humid weather. Isolated rains are likely in the afternoon,” he added.

Perez said two weather disturbances are being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

A tropical depression outside was last tracked 460 kilometers west northwest of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan while a tropical storm was last observed 1,675 kilometers east of southern Luzon.

Both weather disturbances do not have a direct effect on any part of the country, Perez said.

Meanwhile, gale warning is in effect over the western and northern seaboards of northern Luzon.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail over the rest of the archipelago, PAGASA said. (PNA) – bny
