Motorists are advised to look for alternate routes as several national road sections in Metro Manila will undergo repairs this weekend, the Department of Public and Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Friday.

In an advisory, DPWH National Capital Region Director Nomer Abel Canlas said the repairs will start at 11 p.m. Friday.

In Quezon City, the repairs will cover three sections along Epifanio de los Avenue (EDSA) northbound from Santolan MRT Station, bus lane; Cubao Bus Station, second lane from the sidewalk; and after Aurora to Kamuning Road, third lane from the sidewalk (intermittent section).

Likewise, road rehabilitation activities will be undertaken along EDSA Southbound in Quezon City including in front of GMA Network Building, U-turn slot service road; Kamuning Road intersection, 1st block service road; and from Balingasa Creek to Oliveros Footbridge.

Other road works scheduled in the city this weekend are along Fairview Avenue Southbound, near Mindanao Avenue Exit, first lane from center island; Fairview Avenue Northbound, after corner Yakal Street, first lane from center island; Cloverleaf Northbound, from EDSA to NLEX segment, outer lane; Quirino Highway, before Manila North Diversion Road (MNDR) Flyover, second inner lane; and Roosevelt Avenue, near M.H. Del Pilar Street, outer lane.

In Manila, repair works will cover the southbound outer lane of Mel Lopez Boulevard, fronting North Harbor Center Gate 2 to Vitas Bridge.

Portions of C-5 in Makati and Pasig will also undergo similar activities, particularly the southbound second lane in Makati and the service road in front of Global Oil Gas Station and truck lane both in Pasig City.

On the other hand, the DPWH official advised motorists to take alternate routes due to possible traffic build-up near the construction areas.

The affected road lanes will be fully passable on Sept. 19 at 5 a.m. (PNA)
