Western Visayas police to have new chief

ILOILO CITY – – The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) will have a new chief in the person of Phippine National Police (PNP) spokesman Chief Superintendent John Bulalacao.

Chief Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag will be assigned as director of the Directorate for Information and Communication Technology Management of the PNP in Camp Crame, according to Superintendent Joem Malong, spokesperson of PRO-6.

Malong said the change in command is part of the ongoing reshuffling of PNP and also because number of senior officers who are retiring from service.

Malong said that the relief order of Binag is effective Friday, June 1. He started serving Western Visayas on May 15, 2017.

In an interview, Binag said that he was verbally informed about his new assignment a month ago. He received the formal document of his new assignment Friday.

Aside from his new assignment, Binag said that he was also promoted to a two-star general.

He expressed excitement for his new assignment, saying he is ready to help contribute his ideas at the policy level of the PNP.

In more than a year of his service here, Binag described Western Visayas as “very peaceful” region.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much for the very warm welcome during my assignment here,” he said.

“I have learned to love the people, the place and the culture. We are seriously considering to retire in this place because of my good experience here,” he added.(Cindy Ferrer/PNA)
