WHO assures delivery of vaccine commitment to the PH

The World Health Organization (WHO) gave the assurance today (April 19) that its commitment of COVID-19 vaccines from the COVAX facility will be delivered to the Philippines.

In today’s Laging Handa public briefing, WHO Representative to the Philippines Dr. Rabindra Abeyasinghe said they are expecting a “consignment” within the month of April. However, the date of the arrival is still uncertain.

“So, we believe that we will receive some stock of vaccines within this month and some vaccines next month,” Abeyasinghe said.

Meanwhile, he announced that the Philippines has vaccinated almost 1.25 million people and 63% of Filipino frontliners have received the vaccine. He also reiterated prioritizing healthcare workers in the country’s vaccination program so that they are “fully protected” against the virus.
