Why vax supply is dry during first, last week of month

The National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 explained on Monday (July 6) why COVID-19 vaccine volumes are usually higher during the second and third week of a month.

NTF chief implementer and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the first and last week are “lean days” amid vaccine replenishment processes.

“Lean days dahil kasi po during the first day of the day of the month, nagkakaroon po sila ng tinatawag na preparation for deployment. So nagde-deploy po sila sa mga second week pa,” Galvez said.

“And then ‘yong last ano, ‘yong last week, nangyayari nagkakaroon po sila ng inventory at nagkakaroon ng redeployment ‘yong mga manufacturers,” Galvez added.

Galvez stated in his report that the country is expecting 16 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines this July and around 14 million doses in August.

The July supply includes over a million doses donated by the Japanese and United States government.

Meanwhile, the government announced that the Philippines has already administered more than 12 million doses. Galvez said 5,455,346 doses were administered in June alone. – Report from Sweeden Velado-Ramirez/AG-rir
