Woman, 4 others nabbed in Maguindanao anti-drug ops

PARANG, Maguindanao – Joint police and anti-narcotics operatives arrested on Monday a 55-year-old woman and four others during an anti-drug operation here.

Supt. Ibrahim Jambiran, Parang town police director, and Supt. Louie Ferreras, chief of the Police Regional Mobile Force Battalion, led the raiding team in a drug buy-bust operation at around 8:30 a.m. at Sitio Talipasan, Barangay GT Biruar.

“They were caught in the act of selling prohibited drugs to a poseur-buyer,” Jambiran said, adding that further search to the suspects’ hideout led to the recovery of firearms and explosives.

Jambiran identified the suspects as Tarhata Talipasan, 55, Esmael Sapal Panaliente, 25; Dema Edzel Maguid, 32; Sukarno Ditaya Mindo, 36; and Abdulhamid Odin Paido, 49, all residents of the barangay.

Jambiran said that one of the drug peddling suspects, identified as Ombra Talipasan, managed to elude arrest.

Recovered from the suspects’ home included a hand grenade, homemade .22-caliber rifle, rocket propelled grenade launcher and ammunition for .45-caliber pistol and M-16 Armalite rifle. Jambiran said all the guns were unlicensed. (Edwin Fernandez/PNA)
