Young graduates, professionals line up at Ilocos Norte job fair

LAOAG CITY — Over a hundred fresh graduates and young professionals,  mostly from this city and neighboring towns, lined up for work opportunities at the Ilocos Norte Capitol on Wednesday.

The Provincial Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Ilocos Norte is currently assisting job seekers under a three-day special recruitment activity slated from July 17-19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Ann Marie Lizeth Atuan, head of the PESO, said a number of companies, including a newly-opened bar and restaurant at the Robinsons Mall in San Nicolas town, had been requesting for assistance from the PESO in searching for additional workforce.

“We are encouraging fresh graduates and those who are unemployed yet to seize this special recruitment activity,” she said.

In support of the employment generation program of the Ilocos Norte government, the PESO also maintains an online job portal, bridging the gap between applicants and employers.

The same department also continues to conduct employment and career counseling, anti-illegal recruitment seminars, and other measures to ensure equitable jobs for all.

A series of job fairs is also being organized in the province to match the current demand for additional workforce mostly in hotels and restaurants, call centers, and financial banks, among other companies. (Leilanie Adriano/PNA)
