ZAMBOANGA CITY — The city government has allocated PHP3 million to embellish selected landmarks with Christmas decorations in time for the Yuletide Season dubbed as “Pascua na Zamboanga 2018.”

Engr. Rene Dela Cruz, City General Service Office (CGSO) chief, on Monday said this year’s allocation for Christmas decoration is higher by PHP500,000 than that of last year’s PHP2.5 million.

Dela Cruz said 90 percent of the decorations will have new designs and will be adorned with Light-Emitting Diode (LED) lights.

Among the landmarks that will be decorated are City Hall, Paseo del Mar, Rizal Street, Veterans Memorial Monument, Mayor Vitaliano Agan Avenue (Nuñez Extension), Rotary Rotunda, Plaza Pershing, and Jardin Maria Clara in Pasonanca Park.

A 40-foot giant Christmas tree will also be erected at the Paseo del Mar.

The switch-on of the Christmas decorations is scheduled to be held on Friday, November 23, in time for the kick-off of the Pascua na Zamboanga 2018.
