Zamboanga anti-drug ops net 5

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Five people, including a woman, were arrested in two separate buy-bust operations as police intensified its anti-drug campaign in this city, an official announced Saturday.

Senior Insp. Shellamie Chang, Zamboanga City Police information officer, identified the arrested drug personalities as Ulysess Nandu Barade alias, Uling, 28; Saudi Sistual Hanapi alias Saudi, 38; Joseph Javier Tibli alias Tommy, 54; Abshar Abubakar Amma alias Absh, 24; and, Dadang Asan Inang alias Dadang, 31.

Chang said except for Barade, the other four drug personalities were arrested in a buy-bust operation by the Police Station 1 personnel in Sitio Canelar Barangay Mampang here at about 5 p.m. Friday.

She said confiscated from the four were two heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride locally known as “shabu”, PHP300 marked money consisting of three PHP100 bills, and several illegal drug paraphernalia.

Barade, meanwhile, was arrested by operatives of the Regional Drugs Enforcement Unit 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) in a buy-bust operation in Purok 3, Barangay Tugbungan here at about 6:45 p.m. Friday, said Chang.

She said seized from the suspect was a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet of suspected shabu and marked money.

The suspects were detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them, Chang added. (Teofilo Garcia, Jr/PNA)
